UKCA Certification

Following the UK’s departure from the European Union, there has been an immediate need to ensure safety critical equipment is certified adequately for the relevant markets.

Petrel took immediate action in 2019 to ensure all Hazardous Area products that were certified to the ATEX Directive (2014/34/EU) in the UK, attained updated certification by a European notified body. This was done for all current products in October 2019, and allowed Petrel to continue marking them with the CE logo.

In 2020, Petrel began the process of ensuring their products were also certified to the new UKEX Statutory Instrument requirement (SI 2016 No. 1107) by a UK approved body, to allow products to be marked with the new UKCA logo.

Petrel is now able to offer its flagship products with ATEX, UKEX and IECEx certification on the full 7 Series product line, the 9 Series LED range and the full suite of Area Light and Transportable Area Light products.

Along with this new certification, all these products have been assessed and certified to the latest editions of the relevant standards which apply.

Petrel continues to work on the remaining product lines to be in full compliance with the 2023 deadline.
